At age 16 you can legally learn to ride a moped
under 50cc, the bike can either be automatic or geared. You
will need to complete a CBT course to validate your provisional
licence so that you can ride on the road with L plates. Your
CBT certificate will be valid for 2 years. After CBT, you can then go on to take further
on road training to prepare you for the practical Moped test.
In line with all practical tests you will need to pass the
theory test before you sit the practical test. On passing both
tests you will gain a full Category P licence.

a safer rider.

- No L plates so able to carry passengers
- No need to retake the theory test if
you go onto take the motorcycle test at age 17+
